Yuraku Japanese Restaurant, located in Germantown on Frederick Road, is well deserving of an hour drive from my home. There is usually a long line/wait for dinner in this little, cozy place. It is better to make reservations early. Going there in a party of 6, we ordered the combination of sushi and sashimi, priced at $120, the biggest boat on the menu. In return, this Japanese restaurant isn't cheap with their food. Each guest receives a serving of steamed egg, miso soup, and Japanese ginger salad while all gets to share a seared salmon head. The salmon head might look gross but it is absolutely delicious.
These appetizers are a great start to a very nice meal. It's a good set up for the giant sushi boat.
There are 6 special rolls of sushi and more sashimi than you can eat. I especially enjoyed the favor and texture of the white tuna and salmon. Overall, everything was well put together and surprised me with quantity and quality.

Outback Steakhouse
It has been forever since I last blogged! I miss blogging...
Anyway, I've had the pleasure to visit Outback Steakhouse close to my house and finally tried out the blooming onion. It has been highly praised and I would have to agree. The presentation and the taste of the combination of fried onion and the sauce are something to rave about. It is definitely a must-have appetizer.

Another plus about Outback is the appetizer bread that comes before the meal. Try it out and you'll see that the texture is perfect and the taste is great and light. I think there's a hint of chocolate in the bread :)
I had a tough time choosing what entrée to eat. Nothing really jumped out at me and I just chose the Sweet Glazed Roasted Pork Tenderloin. It was not good at all. Thumbs down. I would recommend on getting something more simple like a burger or a steak.
Overall, I wouldn't go to Outback Steakhouse and expect a good dinner. I feel that this is more of a place to hang out with friends or for happy hour. Drink, eat some appetizers, and have a good time.

Hibachi Sushi & Supreme Buffet
So I went to Hibachi Sushi & Supreme Buffet for lunch last week and enjoyed a fairly nice lunch. The buffet cost about $8 a person for lunch plus cost for drinks. The buffet is just like any kind of Chinese buffet with the regular Chinese dishes like Beef and Broccoli, Sesame Chicken, and fried rice and lo mein. In addition, a little bit of American food is included as well like pizza, fried chicken, french fries, and steamed salmon.
On to the good part, the sushi! It's actually quite enjoyable, especially for a buffet. Nigiri comes in small portions, smaller than normal nigiri sushi you get at any sushi place. So you can get a variety without stuffing yourself. Also, there's a decent variety to choose from. And it's always nice to get some seaweed salad to go along with some good sushi.
Next good thing, the hibachi grill. You get to pick up the items you want to be grilled, put them on a plate, hand it over to the hibachi chef. About 5 minutes later, you get a steamy hot plate of hibachi grilled food. You can choose a combination of meat: chicken, beef, shrimp, and scallops. You can also add noodles and a variety of vegetables to your plate. It's fun just seeing the chef cook your food right in front of you. There is a line for it though. But overall, this place rocks.

Manna Food
It's been a while since I posted a blog about my food experiences. And it was very nice to finally go out after a huge snowstorm. Today I went to Lotte Plaza and ate at Manna Food in the food court.
My brother and I ordered our food and five minutes later, out it came. Talk about fast service.
A dish of soon doo boo (a hot, spicy tofu stew) and a dish of bul go gi (Korean barbecued beef). To be honest, the dishes were just ok. If you want better Korean food, there's Shin Chon Garden right next door and Two Youngs next to H-Mart on Rolling Road (Soon doo boo is definitely better at Two Youngs). But the food court here gives you a variety. There's sushi and all types of Japanese and Korean quick hot meals. I would still recommend Ikkyu if you are at the Lotte Plaza food court for a bite to eat.
